BULL & HORSE SALE CATALOG 2009
Dear Stockmen,
On behalf of Silver Spur and Herring Angus, we would like to welcome you to our Sixth Annual Bull and
Horse Sale. Again this year, we have a wide selection of Charolais, cross bloods - 1/2 Red Angus & 1/2
Charolais, cross bloods - 1/2 Black Simmental & 1/2 Angus, Angus and Maine Influenced bulls. With these
breeds, we can fulfill all of your needs whether it is maternal, calving ease, carcass, growth or a
combination of these traits. We will also be offering for sale a selection of excellent ranch horses.
As we continue to emphasize carcass merit in the Charolais cattle, we finish out the mates to these bulls
every year to test our carcass quality. The quality is there, as 82% have graded Prime and Choice with 88%
yielding Grade 1’s and 2’s. The rib eye averaged 14.75 inches. This test was completed over the last four
years on 458 head.
The Charolais bulls were weaned the middle of September and went on a 130 day test, beginning in
November and continuing through the end of March. They were fed at the 4S Cattle Company in
Wheatland, WY. The information on the gain test will be available sale day.
Kal weaned the Angus and the Maine Bulls the first of November and they have since been on feed at his
ranch. The bulls were born and raised at high altitude and will be PAP tested before the sale. Information
on PAP scores will be available sale day.
This year’s Charolais bulls are sons or grandsons of Eaton’s Bullseye, Gridmaker 104, Rancher and Polled
Value. Cross blood bulls Red Angus Gravity 601, Cherokee Canyon, Black Simmental , R&R Goldmine and
Dream On. Angus sires are Bon View New Design 878, Bon View New Design 1407, BR Midland, Morgan’s
Direction, SAV 8180 Traveler 004, HA Image Maker, N Bar Prime Time, Rito 4L60 and OCC Homer.
Maine sires include Heat Wave 1, Habanero, Yellow Jacket and Ranch Hand.
We have another top-notched set of ranch horses that we have been using on the ranch and in the arena.
These horses have worked well for us and are ready to work for you.
We would like to invite you to join us Friday night for a Rocky Mountain Oyster fry, which will be held at
the 7 Bar Ranch’s indoor, heated arena. At that time we will preview the horses. The bulls will be sorted
and ready for your inspection. A complimentary pitchfork fondue lunch will be served prior to the sale on
Saturday.
If you would like to see any of the bulls or horses before the Friday night preview, please give us a call.
We look forward to meeting and visiting with you. If we can assist you in any way, please do not hesitate
to call.
Sincerely,
Kal, Ken, Cody and Thad
